Macon County allowed a touchdown on the opening kickoff of Friday’s Region 3-4A opener at Cumberland County, but the Tigers kept the Jets grounded the rest of the way.
The Tigers rolled up 469 yards of total offense and triggered the mercy rule running clock early in the third quarter of their 49-13 victory.
Seth Carlisle threw for 232 yards on 9-of-11 passing, tossing touchdown strikes to Curtis Oliver, Chris Oliver and Noah Likens.
Carlisle rushed for 88 yards on nine carries, including a 53-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Likens and Curtis Oliver also added touchdown runs.
Lucas Dyer led the Tiger defense with six tackles and three tackles for a loss. Macon County held Cumberland County to 148 yards of total offense.
Macon County improved to 3-1 overall and will host Trousdale County next week.
