Led by Seth Carlisle’s 271 rushing yards and three turnovers on defense, Macon County pulled away in the second half for a 42-20 victory over visiting Trousdale County at Pat Parker Field.
Carlisle ran for five touchdowns in the victory, scoring from 2, 4, 21, 36 and 54 yards.
Noah Likens threw a touchdown pass to Chris Oliver late in the third quarter, and
Isaac Belton and Ethan Jenkins collected interceptions on back-to-back possessions in the second half, and Levi Bolton recovered a fumble.
The Tigers recovered an onside kick to begin the second half leading 21-14, and drove 47 yards in five plays to extend their lead to 14 points.
Macon County outgained Trousdale County 379-223 in the contest and held the ball for 28:27 to the Yellow Jackets’ 19:33. The Tigers converted on third down on eight of 15 attempts and two of three tries on fourth down.
Macon County (4-1) returns to action next week at home with a Region 3-4A contest against Stone Memorial.
