Macon County’s efforts at the first region title since 2003 fell short on Friday evening, as visiting Livingston Academy handed the Tigers a 24-14 loss in the regular season finale at Pat Parker Field.
The Tigers never led, but a 30-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Seth Carlisle to classmate Michael Caery late in the first half trimmed Livingston’s lead to 10-7 at halftime.
Carlisle rushed for 115 yards on 19 carries and threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Jenkins caught a 33-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Carver was the Tigers’ leading tackler on defense with seven stops, while Caery had six. Four players – Jacob Stoops, Riley Phillips, Chase Whittemore and Trent Boles – each had five, and Stoops had the Tigers’ lone sack.
The Tigers fell to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 3-4A play with the loss, while Livingston Academy improved to 8-2 overall and finished 4-0 in region action. Macon County opens the Class 4A playoffs at home next week, hosting Spring Hill.
